Since it was established 10 years ago, The Ingenuity Network has grown into a thriving community of over 1800 individuals. Here we’ll be featuring examples of how some of those individuals have benefited from working with The University of Nottingham. This month our featured member is Ruth Dolby of Food Science Fusion Limited.
Ruth Dolby is Managing Director of Food Science Fusion. Ruth has over 35 years of experience in the food industry and a unique skill set derived from her diverse work in kitchens, laboratories and production units as well as boardrooms.
Ruth’s key skills lie in identifying essential resources needed to deliver complicated projects, lateral thinking to identify practical solutions and delivering projects from concept to launch. She has also worked for and with food industry giants such as Tesco and Northern Foods as well as multi-site SMEs making her an ideal member of the Ingenuity Network. Ruth is now leading Food Science Fusion Ltd and is an Associate of Nutrition at The University of Nottingham.
Food Science Fusion is a business focused on enabling communication of complex messages to the non-expert within food & drink companies. The company currently works across the UK and Ireland engaging a wide set of disciplines from engineering and food science to sales, forming and supporting multi-discipline teams. At Food Science Fusion, Ruth works to ensure the customer need as well as science and culinary requirements are met. Food Science Fusion works with businesses supplying the food industry as well as the industry itself, making the complicated clear. If you do not understand how, why or when, Food Science Fusion will find the answer with you.
As a member of the Ingenuity Network for many years, Ruth explained how the unique network is very attractive to new businesses like hers:
“I have been a supporter of The Ingenuity Network since its inception and the blend of ‘local’ and ‘academic’ makes it a unique draw that keeps me coming back because of the support it offers.
Food Science Fusion thrives on ever widening networks and up to date knowledge, but like everyone we are time poor, so the breakfast meetings provide an excellent forum. As well as the broad width of local businesses, the opportunities to hear from expert speakers is vital to our armoury.
We really value the mix of taster talks with fantastic options of longer workshops with specialists in more depth. They are always useful as they are constantly on subjects that are relevant to business and often taken from a different angle, which kindles discussion and practical application. It was so stimulating to tell our company story guided by the Classics Department and defining our customer engagement with the Film and Media Department, to name the last two full workshops we attended.
We never know what is around the corner and The Ingenuity Network offers links to disciplines and companies we do not currently trade with.”
