Since it was established 10 years ago, The Ingenuity Network has grown into a thriving community of over 1800 individuals. Here, we’ll be featuring examples of how some of those individuals have benefitted from working with The University of Nottingham. This month our featured member is Dan Trussell.
“It’s no secret that Nottingham has become a hotbed for creative talent, so it was a great opportunity to meet some new faces at my first Ingenuity Breakfast event in January 2016.
This was very different to similar events I’ve attended. A lot of networking is very sales-led, and low calibre, but rather than resembling the ‘hard-sell’ almost robotic approach of yesteryear, the Ingenuity Breakfast proved to be a great opportunity to share ideas and stories with other people in a great environment.
We help businesses around the world to create great content strategies using PR, social media and SEO – most of which being designed to lead to a face-to-face meeting with people they would speak to, work and collaborate with. The breakfast reminded me of the importance of that outcome – you simply cannot lose sight of the advantages of face-to-face conversation. It all comes back to the old adage that people buy people.
The networking was broken up nicely by some engaging and insightful presentations, and I left the event reassured that the city of Nottingham continues to punch above its weight.”
