Since it was established 10 years ago, The Ingenuity Network has grown into a thriving community of over 1800 individuals. Here, we’ll be featuring examples of how some of those individuals have benefited from working with The University of Nottingham. This month our featured member is Laura Hampton.

Laura is the head of digital PR at Impression, a digital agency based in the heart of Nottingham’s Creative Quarter. As an agency, they’ve been active since 2014, providing a range of digital services including SEOPPCdigital PR and analytics. Their clients include some of Nottingham’s best known brands, plus national brands and smaller SME’s in the UK and overseas.

Laura says:

“Our clients choose to work with us because of our innovative campaigns and the results-focused, data-driven approach we take. Every action we take for our clients is a result of data proof points combined with the creativity and expertise of our team. Our clients benefit from traffic increases, Google rankings improvements, new leads and increased sales.

The Ingenuity Network is an important part of the Nottingham business community. For our founders Tom and Aaron, the decision to start Impression here in Nottingham was driven by their research in the area, which showed that there is a high level of business support – including funding and support networks like Ingenuity.

That’s why we’ve continued to engage with the network. By investing our time in the events held by The Ingenuity Network, we are able to learn a lot and also build valuable relationships with other local businesses, including potential partners and potential clients.

Of course, The Ingenuity Network is just one part of the University’s offering. As an agency, we recognise the strength of the business community here in Notts and do a lot to work with The University of Nottingham and other local institutions and organisations. We’ve hosted co-branded events with the universities to provide digital marketing tips and advice. We also work closely with the universities to support graduate retention, and run our own successful graduate scheme.

Being part of The Ingenuity Network and the wider university community has really helped our business to grow, particularly in the local area. If asked by another business owner, we’d certainly recommend they take advantage of the range of support and networking opportunities available therein.

For us, Nottingham is a really exciting city. There’s a huge amount of inward investment coming our way that we’ll see the benefits of in the coming years, and we see Notts going down the same path as cities like Leeds, for example, which has thrived thanks to the support provided to local companies.

In terms of digital, 2017 will be an important year. Savvy marketing managers recognise the importance of digital and more specifically, the absolute need to not only be available online, but to be investing in platforms and campaigns that set them apart from their competitors. Mobile optimisation in particular will be essential to businesses moving forward, while the creation of great content in different formats such as video and graphics will be so important in helping them achieve their goals.”
