Since it was established 10 years ago, The Ingenuity Network has grown into a thriving community of over 1800 individuals. Here, we’ll be featuring examples of how some of those individuals have benefited from working with The University of Nottingham. This month our featured member is Francine Pickering of Clarity Marketing.
“Hello, I’m Francine Pickering and I run Clarity Marketing, providing marketing strategy advice for local growing businesses.”
“I’ve been involved with the Ingenuity network since before the Ingenuity network existed! I have worked closely with the University over the years on various business support projects including the original Ingenuity Programme. These days I enjoy the network as any local business owner does, as a way of connecting with other local business people.
I’m a regular attendee at the breakfast events which always offer speakers that have something interesting and original to say on topics that you don’t see covered at other business networks. That’s something I appreciate as I always get a different perspective from them that I know I won’t get elsewhere.
The workshops that often follow on from the breakfast events are always interesting and a good way to take timeout of my business and consider issues in greater depth – either for my own benefit or that of my clients. They’re also good for my professional development programme as a Chartered Marketer.
The main benefit of the network is the ability it gives me to get interesting and stimulating ideas from people I wouldn’t come across outside the university environment. Meeting interesting business owners is always a bonus too.
I’d definitely recommend the Ingenuity network to any business owner who is looking for something a bit different to complement their other networking and, in particular, as a short cut to the range of support that they could find within the University. Give it a go – there’s plenty to gain and nothing to lose.”
