Since it was established 10 years ago, The Ingenuity Network has grown into a thriving community of over 1800 individuals. Here, we feature examples of how some of those individuals have benefited from working with The University of Nottingham. This month our featured member is Paul Atherton from N1 Visual Solutions.
Paul Atherton is the Creative Director of N1 Visual Solutions, an award winning company based in Nottingham which specialises in creating signs, printed graphics and vehicle wraps. As Paul explains “At N1 Visual Solutions, we use our expertise in design and branding to deliver innovative and eye catching visual communications.”
Paul describes himself as a “Tea and two sugar fuelled creative with an eagle’s eye for detail, supported by a passion for branding and graphic design”.
N1 Visual Solution’s body of work will be familiar to Nottingham locals. Their portfolio includes illuminated signs for Everyman Barbers and St James Hotel; 3D fabricated signage for MIES, YMCA, Resource House Business Centre; vehicle wraps for companies such as East Midlands Welding, Ward Recycling, Porsche Nottingham, and Pork Farms; as well as stunning window and wall graphics, billboards, floor coverings and much more.
As well as managing a complete rebrand, the launch of a new website, an Instagram page that has attracted nearly 2,000 followers in just three months, and moving to new premises in 2016, Paul and the N1 team are currently working on a host of new and exciting projects. Paul is now looking forward to entering the European Sign Awards. 2017 is shaping up to be an exciting year!
“We became aware of the Ingenuity network after being chosen to participate in The Growth 100 programme, organised in partnership between The University of Nottingham & Nottingham City Council. Since then, we have benefited from graduate placements and networking events.
Within the Ingenuity network, there is a great mix of business proprietors from sole traders to larger operations within a vast range of business sectors.
There is also a wealth of resources from within the University itself in terms of research projects or graduate placements.
The Ingenuity network and mainly during the growth 100 program has allowed me to critically analyse my business, its operations, resources and its product offerings. I have been able to discuss the findings amongst a broad SME network. From hearing presentations from the external speakers or critique from peers, it has provided a strong external support network.
Utilising the growth 100 structure, supported by the Ingenuity network, we were able to access a wide range of resources external input whilst launching ourselves into a broad SME network. We were able to streamline our processes, put in order a strong growth plan and realise and overcome problems and opportunities.
The Ingenuity network is one of the most structured SME business networks in the East Midlands, with concrete resources, as well as professional and academic input.”
