UK’s largest entrepreneurship competition – 3 day dynamic conference – £100,000 prize fund
What is Ingenuity17?
Ingenuity17 is the University of Nottingham’s (UoN) annual, tri-campus entrepreneurship competition. Open to all UoN undergraduates, postgraduates, alumni and early stage researchers in the UK, Malaysia and Ningbo. Sponsored by partners Santander Universities, Shakespeare Martineau, Potter Clarkson, BDO as well as the University’s Asia Business Centre and Careers and Employability Team.
What will the competition entail?
During February 2017, entrants have the opportunity to take a new idea through a variety of development activities, in order to submit an outlined business plan and financials. The top 20 of entrants will be invited to pitch in the semi-finals; followed by the final pitch event for the top 5 entrants. The competition will culminate in a prize ceremony in April, where winners will be awarded a share of the £100,000+ prize fund.
The competition is split into two main sections. The Ingenuity Conference on the 17, 18 and 19 February 2017 (UK only); and a business plan competition:
The Ingenuity Lab will take over the Trent Building for three days of intense ideas development. The Friday and Saturday will see development sessions, inspirational speakers and mentor development – taking entrants ideas or existing activity; and developing them towards being market ready product or service. Entrants will be assisted by industry experts, specialist academics as well as peers. The final day will end with hundreds of pitches, as each team compete for specialist mentoring into the competitive stage in April.
Please note: Participants in Malaysia and Ningbo will have localised development events. However all applications, business entries, pitches and the Prize Ceremony will be in the UK. Overseas entrants will not need to travel to the UK to enter.
During the evening of the 17 February 2017, there will be a Corporate Reception creating a networking opportunity for Ingenuity17 mentors and sponsors.
On Sunday 19 February 2017, teams formed during the conference will get the opportunity to practice their pitch, resulting in hundreds of practice pitches, as teams compete to be crown the winner.
The Business Plan Competition
After the development session, entrants will have time to develop their business plan for entry into the competition. Entrants will be asked to complete an online Ingenuity Business Plan entry form, which will then be independently assessed in the UK.
The Top 20 will be invited to attend three days of pitching in order to find our winners, and who will share in the £100,000+ prize fund. Overseas finalists will pitch via video.
Ingenuity Prize Ceremony
A VIP prize ceremony will be held on 12 April 2017, celebrating entrepreneurial achievement by awarding this year’s winners.
